DSH-805 in the spotlight at Best of High End

An international audiophile outlet on our flagship DAC

We're not going to pretend we're not thrilled — Best of High End, a UK-based outlet that's kept its finger on the pulse of high-fidelity audio for years, featured our flagship DAC, the DSH-805. The editors looked under the hood to see what really drives its sound, and how it stacks up against the rest of the high-end field.

The spotlight fell on the flagship ESS SABRE ES9039MSPRO chip with eight internal converters, alongside a proprietary output stage built around eighteen OPA161x operational amplifiers. The editors noted full support for PCM, DSD, and MQA formats, an internal clock that minimizes jitter, and a linear power supply built around a Polish-made transformer.

We tested the DSH-805 in conditions where digital-to-analog conversion isn't allowed to fail — day in, day out, at a vinyl pressing plant.

That's the detail that stands out most in the piece: the DAC was put through real-world testing at the Takt vinyl pressing plant, where signal stability and repeatability are an everyday requirement, not a lab scenario. The editors also highlighted its visual and functional consistency with our WSH-805 amplifier — together, the two units form one cohesive system.
