Direct drive unit

The unique NB1 drive, designed by Unitra for new generation turntables, is a direct drive, where the engine torque is transferred directly to the intermediate plate. This type of drive allows for perfect speed control, which, combined with the control algorithm specially designed by Unitra, translates into, among other things, a reduced wow and flutter parameter, i.e. no audible interference caused by changes in rotational speed. The drive system offers excellent speed control to minimize wow and flutter and ensure quiet and maintenance-free operation.

Own direct drive with advanced speed control system

The brushless motor with coreless coils used in the drive is also characterized by quieter operation and the torque is available immediately without unnecessary delays caused by intermediary elements. The drive is maintenance-free, there are no components subject to wear or replacement.

Stability without calibration

The direct drive comes with a complete power supply circuit.


The NB-1 drive does not require any calibration or nominal speed setting. The digital part collects information about the position and speed of the sub-platter using two feedback loops (magnetic and optical), which allows for precise control of the rotation.


The power supply is linear, unlike the pulse solutions available on the market. This means that it generates a much lower level of potential interference. Additionally, the digital and executive parts of the engine are powered from separate transformer taps.
